Want to fly the University of Bordeaux's flag and climb to the top of the podium? Depending on your performance and goals, different levels of sports are open to you if you want to participate in university sports competitions.
Teams from the various sports departments compete at regional level. They are formed at the beginning of the academic year by the PE teachers, based on level and compatibility. To be considered for team membership, contact the teachers as soon as possible during their training sessions at the beginning of the school year, or at their offices in the sports department.
Competitions are generally held in the evening (for indoor team sports) and on Thursday afternoons (for football and rugby).
Check the LNASU (Ligue Nouvelle-Aquitaine du sport universitaire, in French) website for regional competition schedules.
The University of Bordeaux Sports Association (ASUBx, in French) groups together the sports associations of the University of Bordeaux and its partners (Bordeaux-Montaigne University, Sciences Po Bordeaux, Bordeaux Sciences Agro, Bordeaux INP) and unites the best student athletes under the same team colours for national and international university competitions.
Check the French Federation of University Sports (in French) website for national competition schedules: individual and team sports, French Cups, registration for individual competitions, etc.
The sports permit is mandatory for if you wish to participate in any regional, French or European championships.
You can get it through the sports association affiliated with your college.
When applying for the permit, you must provide a medical certificate or present a valid sports club permit for the ongoing year.
Team or individual sports: 10€
Payment by bank card or cheque to the "Agent comptable de l’université de Bordeaux".
